IAC Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of CEO Sandra Katanick, CAE
FEBRUARY 2011 | Sandra Katanick, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), celebrated her 20 year anniversary with the organization on February 18.
Representing the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS), she served as a founding board member of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL), the first of the IAC divisions, prior to her appointment as Executive Director in 1991. Ms. Katanick reached a new pinnacle in her career in 2003, when she earned the highly respected Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
Since the ICAVL was formed in 1990, Ms. Katanick has contributed to the creation of the five additional accrediting bodies that now join the ICAVL under the IAC: the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL), incorporated in 1996; the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL), incorporated in 1997, the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories (ICAMRL), incorporated in 2000, the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed Tomography Laboratories (ICACTL), incorporated in 2007 and the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Carotid Stenting Facilities (ICACSF), incorporated in 2010.
"It has been a delight and honor to guide the IAC and its divisions through 20 years of successfully providing laboratory accreditation that has ultimately improved the quality of patient care. Working with some of the most dedicated and knowledgeable physicians, technologists, sonographers and staff for the past 20 years has truly been a privilege and I look forward to many more years of working with the IAC," Katanick said.
In recognition of this distinctive accomplishment, the IAC staff recently honored Ms. Katanick with a celebration and the presentation of an award and a plaque. The IAC and its division Boards of Directors also honored Ms. Katanick for her distinguished achievement and contributions, at the recent winter Board meetings held in January and February.
