ICANL CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The following CME requirements are mandatory effective January
1, 2004.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR
FOR LABORATORIES APPLYING FOR NUCLEAR CARDIOLOGY ACCREDITATION:
The Medical Director must obtain at least 15 hours of
AMA Category I continuing medical education (CME) credits, relevant
to nuclear cardiology, every three years.
FOR
LABORATORIES APPLYING FOR NUCLEAR MEDICINE AND/OR PET ACCREDITATION:
The Medical Director must obtain at least 15 hours of
AMA Category I continuing medical education (CME) credits, relevant
to nuclear medicine, every three years.
TECHNICAL
DIRECTOR
The
Technical Director must obtain at least 15 hours of accredited
continuing education (CE) in nuclear medicine, every three years.
The 15 hours should include at least three hours in each of
the following categories: imaging, quality control/instrumentation,
and radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine. All continuing
education hours must be approved CE (VOICE, ARRT-Category A,
ASRT, AMA Category I).
MEDICAL STAFF
FOR
LABORATORIES APPLYING FOR NUCLEAR CARDIOLOGY ACCREDITATION:
The interpreting medical staff members must obtain at
least 15 hours of AMA Category I CME credits, relevant to nuclear
cardiology, every three years.

LABORATORIES APPLYING FOR NUCLEAR MEDICINE AND/OR PET ACCREDITATION:
The interpreting medical staff members must obtain at
least 15 hours of AMA Category I CME credits, relevant to nuclear
medicine, every three years.
TECHNICAL STAFF
The nuclear medicine technology staff
must obtain at least 15 hours of accredited continuing education
(CE) in nuclear medicine, every three years. The 15 hours should
include at least three hours in each of the following categories:
imaging, quality control/instrumentation, and radiopharmaceuticals
in nuclear medicine. All continuing education hours must be
approved CE (VOICE, ARRT-Category A, ASRT, AMA Category I).
The ICANL application includes a CME form that
must be completed for each staff member. Submission of actual
CME certificates or transcript lists is not required as part
of the application; however, documentation of CME credits must
be kept on file within the laboratory and available for inspection.
