Mary Beth Farrell, MS,
CNMT, NCT, RT(N)
Named ICANL Technical Manager
On August 6, 2007, the ICANL welcomed
new Technical Manager Mary Beth Farrell, MS, CNMT,
NCT, RT(N) to the organization. With 22 years of
experience in the field of nuclear medicine, Ms. Farrell
has worked in a full range of clinical settings, including
hospital, research institution, private practice, and
industry.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh,
Ms. Farrell earned her MS degree in Exercise and Cardiac
Physiology in 1992. She is board-certified by the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists [RT(N), (BD)], the
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board [CNMT,
NCT], and the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
Sonography [Echocardiography, RDCS]. Most recently, Ms.
Farrell served as Secretary of the Society of Nuclear
Medicine Technologist Section, where she remains an active
member on the advocacy, coding and reimbursement, and
publications committees. Her other affiliations include
the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the American Academy
of Professional Coders, the American Society of Nuclear
Cardiology, and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.

When asked how she feels about joining the ICANL
during a period of such growth and change, Ms. Farrell is ecstatic.
"This is an exciting time for the ICANL," she states,"
and I am eager to meet the challenges of this extraordinary
organization."
As Technical Manager, Ms. Farrell is now the
main point of contact for labs preparing their applications
for submission. She will oversee the individualized correspondence
received by applicant laboratories, including the detailed summary
of the Application Review Findings which identifies the laboratory's
strengths and weaknesses. Working closely with the trained teams
of application reviewers and site visitors, Ms. Farrell will
help prepare their evaluations for review, in conjunction with
the quarterly accreditation decisions made by the Board of Directors.
In addition, she will represent the ICANL at various national
meetings and lectures.
Linda Howard, CNMT
Associate Technical Manager
Linda Howard, CNMT was named Associate
Technical Manager of ICANL in March 2007. However, she
has been involved with the ICANL for a number of years.
In 2003 she began serving as an ICANL application reviewer,
and by 2006 became a member of the staff. In the newly
created position of Associate Technical Manager, Ms. Howard
assists the Technical Manager with numerous duties, including
application review, correspondence with the labs and answering
clinical questions.
Reflecting on the past few years she has
spent with the ICANL, Ms. Howard remarked, "The opportunities
I have encountered with the ICANL have been very rewarding.
I enjoy the experiences and challenges of working with
labs throughout the accreditation process."
Ms. Howard is a 1989 graduate of the Nuclear
Medicine Technology program at Yale New Haven Hospital
in conjunction with South Central Community College.
