Lorraine Fig,
MD, MPH joins the ICANL Board of Directors as a representative
of the American College of Nuclear Physicians. Dr. Fig grew
up in South Africa and received her medical degree from
the University of Cape Town, then immigrated to the U.S.
in 1979. After obtaining a Masters of Public Health (Epidemiology)
from the University of Michigan, she returned to clinical
medicine and completed a Nuclear Medicine fellowship, also
at the University of Michigan. She joined the University
of Michigan faculty in 1991 where she now holds the rank
of Clinical Professor of Radiology (Nuclear Medicine) and
Associate Program Director for Education (Nuclear Medicine).
Dr. Fig serves as a staff physician at the VA Ann Arbor
Healthcare System and is also the Associate Director for
the VA National Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Safety Service.
In addition to administrative, teaching and clinical duties,
Dr. Fig is active in clinical research and has authored/co-authored
over 50 papers. She has been involved in ICANL (as a reviewer
and site visitor) since 2001. Dr. Fig lives in Ann Arbor,
MI with her husband, and has two grown sons and five dogs.

A FOND FAREWELL
The
ICANL Board of Directors and staff bid a fond farewell to a
board member whose term ended in February. Terence Beven,
MD served two 3-year terms on the ICANL Board of Directors
as a representative of the American College of Nuclear Physicians.
During the early years of the ICANL, Dr. Beven played an integral
role in the initial drafting of the ICANL Standards for
General Nuclear Medicine. Gary V. Heller, MD, ICANL President,
stated, "His expertise in all areas of nuclear medicine
has been an invaluable asset to the organization." Dr.
Beven is employed by Our Lady of the Lakes Regional Medical
Center, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he is a member of the
medical staff. The ICANL wishes to thank Dr. Beven for his commitment,
efforts and contributions to the organization.

An
Update To The Application Fee.
Following the July deadline, the following new application fees
will be in place:
$3800...Comprehensive
Nuclear Medicine Accreditation (Nuclear Medicine Testing and
Nuclear Cardiology Testing and/or PET Testing)
OR:
$3300...Nuclear Cardiology Testing only | $3300...Nuclear
Medicine Testing only | $3300...PET Testing only
Agreement
Change Fee.
A fee of $200 will be applied for those laboratories wishing
to make changes to the wording of the Accreditation Agreement.
As the ever-increasing number of requests for changes to the
agreement result in subsequent attorney fees and increased amount
of staff time for the ICANL, the Board felt that the fee has
become a necessity.
Revision
Of The ICANL Logo.
Have you noticed the new look of the ICANL? The logo was recently
modified to include the organization's symbol for PET imaging,
thus ensuring that all three components of nuclear medicine
accreditation are clearly represented.
