The
following are the top ten questions being asked about the new
Online Accreditation format.
1) Q. Will the ICANL continue to accept application submissions
in the paper format?
A. The previous application format,
as provided on CD-ROM, will be accepted through the January
2, 2008 application deadline. Following January 2nd,
only applications submitted using Online Accreditation will
be accepted.
2) Q. Where do
I attach or include the required documents?
A. Online Accreditation has two primary
areas: the Main Area, in which your lab profile is
displayed, and the Applications Area, in which you
answer questions and provide specific data about your laboratory's
staff and clinical practice. Instructions for attaching supporting
documents are included in the Applications Area; however,
your lab profile must be complete before you can proceed to
the Applications Area.
The ICANL is able to accept electronic attachments
in any of the following formats: .RTF, .DOC, .JPG or .JPEG,
.TXT, and .PDF. Through Online Accreditation, applicant laboratories
have three options for submission of required attachments:
(1) you may scan your paper documents and/or attach files
in one of the file formats listed above;
(2) you may ship two copies of paper documents and/or case
studies; or
(3) send a combination of options 1 and 2.
Please note: The ICANL is unable to accept emailed attachments.
Most laboratories choose to send a combination
of both scanned documents (electronic attachments submitted
as part of their online submission) and paper copies which
are shipped to the ICANL office. If you choose to ship attachments,
remember to send two copies.
3) Q. Once I have submitted
my online application, when do the sample case studies and any
additional paper attachments need to be received by the ICANL
office?
A. Laboratories shipping sample cases
and paper attachments must send these materials in accordance
with the corresponding application deadline (first business
day of January, April, July and October). Ideally, the shipping
of attachment materials should occur the same day you click
the final "Submit" button.
4) Q. How do I begin if my lab
has never been accredited by the ICANL or never filled out an
application before?
A.STEP
1: Go to www.icanl.org, download and review
the current
ICANL Standards. This document provides the foundation
to the accreditation process, outlining the recommendations
and requirements for a quality nuclear medicine laboratory.
Laboratories are encouraged to thoroughly review this document
and make any adjustments to their operations to be in compliance,
prior to beginning work on the application. You will also
find links throughout Online Accreditation, relating questions
to the associated Standards.
STEP 2: Determine if your lab has previously
purchased the Accreditation Materials and would therefore
be entitled to free access to Online Accreditation.
STEP 3: If the answer to Step 2 is no,
you may gain access to Online Accreditation by purchasing
access and creating your account, If the answer to Step 2
is yes, use the temporary login information that was
sent to your laboratory in September 2007. Both the "Create
Account" and "Access Account" links are on
the main page of www.icanl.org.
STEP 4: Begin work on Online Accreditation by
following the instructions to create your lab profile, completing
the application questions and attaching or shipping required
attachments.
STEP 5: Click the "Submit" button
after you have completed the application and if necessary,
ship any attachments, including case studies, in duplicate
to the ICANL office on the same day.
