Shelly
A. Burns, LPN, RVT joined the ICAVL staff in the
position of Technical Manager in July 2007. Having worked
in the field of vascular technology since 1990, Ms. Burns'
career path has led her from on-the-job training, to sonographer,
to credentialed sonographer, to Technical Director and
eventually Manager of Vascular Services for Summa Health
System in Akron, Ohio. Each of these experiences has prepared
her for her new role as Technical Manager with the ICAVL.
When
reflecting on her past experiences, Ms. Burns stated,
"Our lab [Summa Health System] was one of the first
to become accredited by the ICAVL in 1992. We continued
to seek accreditation and achieve this status every three
years. It is a pleasure to make the transition from the
clinical setting to now work for the ICAVL. In this role,
I hope to have the opportunity to assist numerous laboratories
in their journey toward quality and accreditation."
